Friends of Indian Art (FIA) is a membership group that was founded in 1990 to support the programs and collections at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture. Members are invited to special events each year that relate to the history, art and culture of the Native Americans in the Southwestern U.S.

Freinds of Indian Art: The Navajo Textile Collection of Susan DeJong
Susan DeJong has been collecting Navajo textiles for over 40 years. We are invited to her home to view her fabulous collection and hear her talk about Navajo weaving from 1870 to the present, using her own pieces to illustrate.

FIA: Turquoise Museum, Albuquerque
Is that beautiful stone in your ring from Lander Blue? Are the stones in your bracelet from Bonanza or Pilot Mountain? Join us on a field trip to a turquoise mine without actually getting dusty! We will visit the Albuquerque Turquoise Museum, where we can learn about the history and lore of turquoise, where our favorite pieces of stone came from and how to best care for our much-loved jewelry.

FIA: A Different Point of View
5:30 pm - 7 pm
Wrapping up the 2010 season, Christine McHorse and Garth Clark will present a different point of view on Native American pottery and its place in the world of art. Clark, a multi-published author, and McHorse, an extraordinary potter, will talk with us about their unique views and welcome our input in the discussion.
