At the Palace of the Governors, explore Santa Fe and New Mexico's rich history at the oldest continuously occupied government building in the United States. Built in 1610, the
Palace of the Governors has been home to 60 state governors and a place of refuge for Spanish colonists waiting out the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. The Palace of the Governors neighbors the New Mexico History Museum, and holds Spanish and Native American artifacts, a portrait gallery of those who shaped Santa Fe, a chapel and a courtyard housing historic wagons. Under the portal facing the Plaza, Native American artists—representing almost every New Mexico tribe—sell their handmade jewelry and art.
