We have two types of tickets:

  • The Sponsor ticket ($100) includes one Series ticket (final two lectures), a signed paperback copy of Telling New Mexico and a tax-deductible donation to the New Mexico History Museum in the amount of $50. 
  • Single tickets ($10) may be purchased online for the May 2 and August 22 lectures.

You may purchase one or a combination of the two.

Please print out the email confirming your purchase. It is your ticket to the Lecture(s).

Please note: All online ticket sales are final. All online ticket purchases must be completed by 4pm on the Friday before the lecture date. If you choose to send a check, please post it so that it will arrive no later than five business days before the lecture date; we need to mail your receipt.

Tickets are available in person at the New Mexico History Museum's Spiegelberg Shop and at the Palace of the Governors' Shop up until the time of the lecture.

Lecture Series Information

Telling New Mexico lecture schedule - complete series:

Nov 22, 2009, 2pm: Dr. Thomas Chávez, former director of the Palace of the Governors and the National Hispanic Cultural Center, speaks on his current book project, a history of the Palace of the Governors. 

January 31, 2010, 2 pm: Author Thomas Lark will speak on the history of African-Americans in New Mexico; and the Rev. Landjur Abukusumo, president of the Blackdom Memorial Foundation and past-president of the Chaves County NAACP, will speak on the pioneers of Blackdom, a former African-American community in Roswell. The Afro-Gospel Praise Experience will perform a mixture of Afro-Latin rhythms and traditional gospel.

March 28, 2010, 2 pm: Gail Y. Okawa, a professor of English at Youngstown State University in Ohio, on the WWII Japanese internment camps in Santa Fe, including one that held her late grandfather.

May 2, 2010, 2pm: CHANGED - This event was originally scheduled for a lecture on World War II by Ferenc Szasz, who has since encountered a health issue. Noted author and historian Richard Melzer has graciously agreed to speak in his place on the "The Civilian Conservation Corps Experience in New Mexico." Aug. 22, 2010, 2pm: Diné author Jennifer Nez Denetdale on the stories of Navajo women, from her current book project.
