Acequias: The Legacy Lives On
On May 7, Los Luceros Historic Site (LLHS) will present Acequias: The Legacy Lives On as part of its monthly Dawn ‘Til Dusk programming. Acequias, directed by filmmaker Aracely “Arcie” Chapa, is an hourlong, visually stunning documentary about New Mexico’s enduring acequias as seen through the eyes of farmers, advocates, scholars, practitioners, lawmakers, journalists, and members of the community. The documentary was made in partnership with University of New Mexico’s Center for Regional Studies, and parts of it were filmed on the grounds of LLHS, making this a kind of homecoming.
In addition to the documentary, LLHS will have its monthly Dawn ‘Til Dusk programming, including extended hours and the fish-focused May edition of New Mexico Outdoor Pass.
