Friends of Coronado & Jemez Four Corners Trip
Join the Friends of Coronado & Jemez Historic Sites, and make a few friends along the way, for an unforgettable three-day excursion to the Four Corners region, to benefit the Historic Sites. The tour provides a unique learning experience that includes outdoor hiking and museum visits. The tour includes double-occupancy hotel rooms, a comfortable motor coach, knowledgeable guides at sites, and some meals. Priority is given to current Friends group member, but open to all. Everyone who signs up will receive a complementary one-year membership to the FCJHS.
Itinerary:
Wed., Sept 25:
- Leave Coronado Historic site at 7:00 am
- Arrive at the Aztec Ruins by 11:00 am
- Ranger guided tours in the Grand Kiva and open site visitation
- Lunch in Farmington (*On your own)
- Afternoon visit to the Salmon Ruins
- Dinner in Farmington (*On your own)
- Overnight stay in Farmington at a comfortable hotel (work out center, indoor pool, elevators, breakfast included)
Thurs., Sept 26:
- Leave Farmington after breakfast (8:30)
- Drive to the entrance of Mesa Verde
- Visit the museum
- Tour the park with a guide
- Boxed picnic lunch (provided)
- Hike to some ruins and overlooks with guide
- Some people may opt for the strenuous ranger guided tours of various ruins, all involving ladders and rough trails.
- Drive to Cortez, check into hotel (indoor pool, work out center, elevators, breakfast included)
- Dinner (*On your own)
Fri., Sept. 27:
- After Breakfast (8:30) drive to Hovenweep National Monument
- Explore, hike, presentations, and boxed lunch provided
- 2:00 pm Board the bus and drive back to Bernalillo
- 6:00 pm arrive at Coronado Historic Site
Trip Cost:
Cost for double-occupancy rooms, per person: $600 and per couple: $1200
Cost for a double-occupancy room, single occupant: $740
