Grounded in Clay: Pottery Curated by about 100 Pueblo Community Members; Part 1
This special two-part FIA event centers on the unique Grounded in Clay exhibit of historic Pueblo pottery that opens at MIAC in late July. The exhibit is sponsored by the Vilchek Foundation, and most of the pieces originate from the Indian Arts Research Center collection at SAR. After a greeting by the president of SAR, Michael Brown, we will divide into three groups: one to watch the PBS NM video about the exhibit; one to tour the SAR campus; and one to tour the world-class IARC collection with director Elysia Poon. We will also learn about the historical relationship between MIAC and SAR.
These two events in September are stand-alone, please feel free to attend one or both events this event will be located at School for Advanced Research.
