Blended Gifts: Make Gifts Now and Create Your Legacy for the Future
Throughout their lives, the Soifers have been devoted supporters of museums and arts institutions in New York, and, for more than two decades, New Mexico. Their extensive travels around the world deepened their appreciation for diverse artistic traditions, cultural heritage and the vital role museums play in preserving these stories for future generations. Over the years, they built a thoughtful collection that reflects both international influences and their growing love for the art and culture of the Southwest.
The Soifers’ love of art and culture naturally shaped their philanthropy. “Supporting museums is a natural thing to do when you love art and want to ensure it is properly cared for and accessible to the public,” they said. “Museums here especially need financial support. The need is often greater than at larger city museums.”
The Soifers plan to establish a named fund for special exhibitions and acquisitions through their donor-advised fund at the Santa Fe Community Foundation—a meaningful commitment that supports the Museum of New Mexico Foundation and New Mexico’s museums today and for generations to come. Through generous gifts during their lifetime, along with a future gift naming the Foundation as a beneficiary of their estate plans through their donor-advised fund, they exemplify the power of a blended gift: creating impact now while ensuring a lasting legacy.

Donating Art Now and Leaving a Legacy
After making New Mexico their home, the Soifers developed a deep connection to the art and culture of Santa Fe and the Southwest. Their collection of New Mexico art became a natural extension of the artworks they had gathered through their travels and experiences with cultures around the world. Drawn to the region’s creativity, history, and artistic traditions, they became passionate advocates for preserving and sharing these works through public institutions.
“The idea of donating works of art to museums from private collections makes these artworks accessible to the public at large,” they stated. “Art belongs in the public eye, not hidden in private collections!”
Over time, the Soifers formed meaningful relationships with fellow supporters, museum staff, curators, and the Museum of New Mexico Foundation, deepening their commitment to the museums and their mission.
“We feel a strong connection to the museums and the people who work here,” they said. “We are pleased that many of the pieces we have loved will have a wonderful new home.”
They added, “It means so much to us that the art we have collected fits within the vision of the New Mexico museums. We have been welcomed with open arms, and that has made this journey especially meaningful.”
The Soifers’ generosity shows how philanthropy can honor a lifelong passion for art, travel, culture and collecting while creating lasting opportunities for future generations to experience and learn from the rich artistic and cultural heritage preserved in New Mexico’s museums.
