New Acquisitions at the Museum of International Folk Art

On view in Lloyd’s Treasure Chest until February 28, 2027

Have you ever wondered how the museum acquires objects? The majority of the museum’s collection has grown from generous donations. Occasionally, museum purchases are funded by private foundations that support the museum, to help tell particular stories about folk art from around the world. Each new accession goes through a rigorous selection process, beginning with curatorial research. Proposed donations and purchases must be accepted by the museum’s internal Collections Committee, a Museum of New Mexico System Collections Committee, and the Board of Regents.
