Exhibition Opening: Fantasy Coffins of Ghana
The exhibition features more than twenty hand-carved, vividly painted figurative coffins by five master Ghanaian artists, including newly commissioned works. On view through Saturday, September 5, 2027.
The fantasy coffins in this exhibition were made especially for this exhibit, through Generous Donors, or for the art market; and were never intended for burial.
Generous funding for The Art Underground: Fantasy Coffins of Ghana is provided by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Friends of Folk Art, International Folk Art Foundation, and donors to the Museum of New Mexico Foundation Exhibition Development Fund including major support from Edelma and David Huntley and the William H. and Mattie Wattis Harris Foundation.
