Launch of Junior Ranger Program
New Mexico Historic Sites is pleased to announce a new Junior Ranger Program at all eight sites! Launching Thursday, August 27, 2026, the program encourages visitors, especially young people, to take a deeper dive and learn more about each site’s history in a fun and interactive way.
A New Mexico Historic Sites Junior Ranger is someone who learns about one of our sites, and takes an oath to protect the site, its structures, trails, and exhibits for future generations. They also share their knowledge with family and friends to help preserve these important places and the history of New Mexico.
To participate, request an activity booklet from the front desk of the site you are visiting. After completing the activities, return the book to the front desk where you will make an oath to a site ranger. Participants will receive a certificate and a wooden ranger badge. Visitors can also complete their booklet at home and mail it in later. Participation is free. Visit all of our sites to collect all eight badges.
We hope Junior Rangers will become advocates for the heritage of New Mexico and the precious resources and knowledge these sites offer!
