Artist Demonstration with Marcus Moquino

Join us at Coronado Historic Site for our monthly artist demonstration with artist Marcus Moquino who will be demonstrating how he creates wood figurines from cottonwood root.

Marcus Moquino, of Santo Domingo and Hopi heritage, is a contemporary artist specializing in unique hand painted designs inspired by traditional pottery and other inspirations. For the past six years, Moquino has developed his practice from a passionate hobby into a full-time career. He is a third-generation artist, following in the footsteps of the late Frank and Evelynn Poolheco (Hopi). Moquino’s nontraditional style blends contemporary aesthetics with scared geometry and his own creative interpretations. He is known for his unforgettable A-symmetrical shoe designs and transforming canvas art into outstanding apparel.

Admission is free to NM residents, children 16 and younger, Tribal members, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and MNMF and FCJHS members. Admission for non-residents is $7 for adults.
