Zara Kriegstein: A Thousand Points of Light
October 17, 2026 through April 25, 2027
As one of Northern New Mexico’s most significant muralists and painter-historians to emerge during the late twentieth century, Zara Kriegstein (1952–2009) worked across painting, print and large-scale public murals to create powerful explorations of personal and collective histories. Drawing from the New Mexico Museum of Art’s collection of Kriegstein’s prints, paintings and etchings, A Thousand Points of Light reveals an artist deeply engaged with the social, political and spiritual questions of her time.
Generous support for Zara Kriegstein: A Thousand Points of Light is provided by The Bell Family and in recognition of their dear friends, Drs. George and Sheryl Tolbit.

Legacies on the Land: Photographs by Joan Myers and Patrick Nagatani
October 17, 2026 through May 16, 2027
In the 1990s, two New Mexico-based photographers–Joan Myers and Patrick Nagatani–independently traveled to what were then largely unmarked sites of World War II Japanese American incarceration camps. This exhibition powerfully demonstrates photography’s role as witness and reckoning.
Legacies on the Land coincides with Reclaiming the Future: The Legacy of Japanese American Incarceration, on view at Vladem Contemporary, creating a meaningful cross-campus dialogue and reinforcing the Museum’s commitment to socially engaged photography.
