A Question of Power

Please join Photographer, Carlan Tapp, who will discuss his process for creating the exhibition, A Question of Power, which documents the cancellation of the Desert Rock coal-fired power plant proposed to be built on the Navajo reservation. Due to widespread opposition and environmental concerns, Desert Rock was canceled in 2011. Tapp will also discuss present-day resource extraction and environmental issues on the Navajo Nation.

Speaker(s) Bio(s): Carlan Tapp is a descendant of the Wicocomico Tribe, Taptico family.  He holds a strong belief and respect for Mother Earth and all creatures. In 2003 Tapp and his wife, Nancy, founded Naamehnay Project, Inc, a Federal 501c3 non-profit.  Their non-profit work focuses on creating a visual voice for Native American Homelands and Sacred Sites impacted by energy industrialization in America.
