Bohemian Santa Fe in the Roaring Twenties

Please join local author, historian, and tour guide Garrett Peck for a look back at the LGBTQ+ History of New Mexico with a special focus on a formative era: Santa Fe during the Roaring 20s, and will have a special focus on a formative era in Santa Fe. Peck will explore how the rise of the art colony, queer life in the City Different, and the social scene during Prohibition all intersected. This event is presented in partnership with the Santa Fe Human Rights Alliance, as part of their “Shoulders We Stand On” initiative, and is co-sponsored by the City of Santa Fe Office of Economic Development.

Garrett Peck is an author, historian, and tour guide in Santa Fe, specializing in adventure travel and historic and cultural interpretation. He leads the Willa Cather’s Santa Fe tour, teaches stargazing, and leads many other tours.

The author of eight books about American history, Garrett’s latest is A Decade of Disruption: America in the New Millennium (2020). He is currently working on The Bright Edges of the World: Willa Cather and Her Archbishop, due out from University of New Mexico Press in February 2026.

Admission is free to New Mexico residents, regular admission applies to non-residents.
