Colcha Embroidery Workshop

Learn about traditional colcha embroidery! All materials will be provided.

Join Las Tejadoras and the Museum of International Folk Art for a hands-on colcha embroidery workshop. This workshop goes in conjunction with our Appearances Deceive: the Embroideries of Policarpio Valencia. Participants will get to hear about the tradition of colcha embroidery as it has been practiced in New Mexico over the centuries and will get the opportunity to learn about the processing of colcha yarn from shearing, through carding, through spinning and dyeing. This is a rare opportunity to learn from practicing colcheras who are experts in their work.
