Colcha Embroidery Workshop

Learn about traditional colcha embroidery! All materials will be provided.

Join Las Tejedoras and the Museum of International Folk Art for a demonstration of traditional fiber arts, including a hands-on workshop. Presented in conjunction with our Appearances Deceive: the Embroideries of Policarpio Valencia. Participants will get to witness the tradition of fiber arts as they have been practiced in New Mexico over the centuries and will get the opportunity to see live demonstrations of carding, spinning, weaving, felting as well as different styles of embroidering. Las Tejedoras will also lead a hands-on basics for beginners workshop. This is a rare opportunity to learn from practicing fiber artists who are experts in their work.
