About the speaker

Deirdre Harris, AIA, is a co-principal at DNCA Architects, a small Santa Fe based architecture studio committed to design excellence. Projects include the Railyard Galleries, the New Mexico Museum of Art Vladem Contemporary, and the new Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.Deirdre has lived in New Mexico for over 23 years but grew up directly north, on the Canadian prairies, and considers roughly the 105th meridian to be her true home. She holds degrees in both architecture and landscape architecture, and she has been striving to unite the two fields throughout three decades of practice.Fascinated by the spaces between objects and buildings, Deirdre loves to observe how people use space and inhabit their surroundings. She is motivated by a passion for connecting people to environment through the choreography of the perceptual, tactile, and emotive aspects of spatial experience.Deirdre will explore ideas around the word “parallel”, which describes a geometric concept that is fundamental to how humans have defined spatial relationships and mapped, conceptualized, navigated, and inhabited the earth since Ancient Greek times.
