Fort Fun Days give visitors the chance to learn new things about the site’s history through tours, special programs, and flag ceremonies. A flag raising ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to start the day. Take a ranger-guided tour of the original Post Cemetery at 11 a.m. Join Ranger Amy for a presentation, "Exploring Nature Around the Fort" at 1 p.m. in the main museum. Learn more about plants and signs of animal activity at Fort Stanton as she teaches ways to identify different types of plants, including trees and flowers, and discusses common signs of animal activity found at the fort. Participants will learn both “old” methods of identification, as well as about apps that help anyone identify plants and other creatures. After the talk, Ranger Amy will take participants on a short walk around Fort Stanton to look at plants and signs of wildlife. After the presentation and walk, explore the site on your own, then watch the flag lowering at 3:50 p.m.

Admission to the site and activities is FREE to New Mexico residents on First Sunday, as well as to children 16 and younger, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, Fort Stanton, Inc. members, and MNMF members. Admission for non-residents is $7 for adults.
