Fort Stanton Easter Bunny Hop
Fort Stanton Historic Site and the area community are excited to host a Fort Stanton Easter Bunny Hop. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in this Easter egg hunt alternative. Area community partners will be at Fort Stanton with treats, prizes, and games for an afternoon of fun. Kiddos should bring their Easter baskets and hop along the historic parade grounds to collect goodies from tables and booths put together by area service providers, state and federal departments, and even caring private citizens. Bring your baskets and blankets and enjoy a picnic lunch on the parade grounds, meet with community members, and play lawn games.
For those wanting to learn more about Fort Stanton, we will also host our Living History program at the site. Watch a flag raising Ceremony at 10 a.m., take a tour of the internment camp at 11 a.m., and listen to special guest lecturer Christopher Ardent, an interpretive ranger at Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument, give a presentation about astronomy entitled “Celestial Navigation and the Age of Discovery” in the chapel at 1 p.m. Admission to the site and activities is $7 for adults. Admission is free to children 16 and younger, Native/Tribal Affiliations, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and MNMF members.
