Letterpress Printing Party at the Palace Press
Letterpress Printing Party at the Palace Press
Saturday May 10, 1- 4 p.m.; Palace Press, New Mexico History Museum
This event is free with museum admission!
Join Palace Press Curator and book artist Keri Miki-Lani Schroeder, and special guest letterpress printer Chris Fritton, a.k.a. “The Itinerant Printer,” to see a variety of printing presses in action! They will be printing from the Palace Press collection of wood type, plates, paper stencils, and even Legos on a Vandercook proof press, Chandler & Price platen press, Kelsey table-top, and Provisional Press. This is an informal demonstration with hands-on activities. At 1 p.m. they will start setting up the presses with a brief introduction to letterpress printing, setting type, locking up a form, mixing ink, and of course, printing! Guests will be able to participate by pulling their own print to keep.
