In celebration of the centenary of Route 66, historian and author David Farmer presents Jack Rittenhouse: A Western Literary Life, the first biography of the visionary writer, printer, publisher, and chronicler of Route 66’s golden age. The talk explores the remarkable life of Jack Rittenhouse—a pioneering Western historian, antiquarian book dealer, advertising executive, and founding member of the Western History Association—whose work helped define the mythology of the American road.

David Farmer is the former director of the DeGolyer Library at Southern Methodist University and has held senior positions at the University of Tulsa, the University of Houston, and the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin. He now makes his home in Santa Fe.
