Shibori and Tie Dye Colors Workshop
Hosted by Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area
Celebrate Pride Month with creativity and color in this Shibori and Tie Dye Pride Colors workshop. Shibori is a traditional Japanese tie-dye technique that involves clamping, binding, folding, or wrapping fabric to create endless pattern variations when dipped into liquid fabric dyes. In this workshop, participants will learn the art of Shibori dyeing and create fabulous rainbow patterns to honor Pride Month and celebrate diversity. Participants will get an introduction to the history and cultural significance of Shibori, create Shibori patterns by preparing fabrics, and dye the fabric to create a stunning piece to take home. All materials will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing that can get stained, bring a notebook and pen for notes, and bring personal fabric items you’d like to dye.
Registration is $50 per person. Register online at https://app.aplos.com/aws/give/NorthernRioGrandeNationalHeritageArea/Shibori or contact Gabriela Silva from NRGNHA at 505-692-3086.
