Winter Letters and Farolito Tour
Join us at Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner Historic Site for our annual special evening event, Winter Letters & Farolito Tour. This live, interactive event connects visitors to the site’s history through landscape and storytelling.
Visitors can take a guided tour from 6 – 8 p.m. that will lead them along a half mile walk around the site, decorated with more than 1,000 farolitos. Staff will share archival military correspondence and oral histories from the Diné (Navajo) and Ndé (Mescalero Apache) to tell stories about the people who once lived at the site. A self-guided audio tour is also available. Along with the tour, visitors can explore the Memorial exhibition, Kids’ Corner table sponsored in partnership with Fort Sumner Public Library, decorate sugar cookies, and enjoy food while it lasts.
Tickets are $7 for adults and free for children 16 and younger, Tribal Members, NM foster families, NM disabled veterans, and MNMF and BRM Friends members. Purchase online at https://my.nmculture.org/44478/51486
