Celebrate the Winter Solstice at MIAC with early morning sunrise watching with breakfast, bird watching, storytelling at 11am and 1pm by Sunny Dooley (Diné), a morning talk by Misha Pipe (Navajo, Assiniboine, and Gros Ventres), making bird feeders in the Education Classroom, and guided tours by the curators of Makowa: The Worlds Above Us.

Dress warmly and bring your own chairs! 

Full Schedule:

7:00am- Morning Blessing, given by Mark Mitchell, Former Governor of Tesuque Pueblo, outside 

7:30-8:30am- Bird watching with Christopher Chappell, owner of Take Flight Birding & Nature Adventures, outside 

8:04am- The official Winter Solstice! 

8:30am- Spotlight tour of Makowa: The Worlds Above Us, highlighting birds 

9:00am- Talk about the cultural significance of the Winter Solstice with Misha Pipe (Diné, Assiniboine, Gros Ventres), in the O’Keeffe Theatre 

10:00am- Sky City Buffalo-Ram Dance Group from Acoma Pueblo, outside 

10:00-2:00pm- Make Pinecone Bird Feeders, in the education classroom 

11:00am- Storytelling with Sunny Dooley (Diné), in the O’Keeffe Theatre 

12:00pm- Spotlight tour of Makowa
