About the Exhibition

Organized by the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Fralin Museum of Art, O'Powa O'Meng: The Art and Legacy of Jody Folwell is the first major career retrospective dedicated to this groundbreaking artist. Featuring 33 works, including two newly commissioned for this exhibition, it traces her five-decade journey defined by fearless experimentation, boundary-pushing design and unwavering commitment to truth-telling through art. It places Folwell's achievements within the canon of American art history, restoring her story to its rightful place and honoring the generational impact of Indigenous women artists.
