Cultural Stewardship Fund

Decades of Partnership. A Future of Shared Stewardship.

The Museum of New Mexico Foundation invites you to support the Cultural Stewardship Fund, a new initiative created to strengthen the central role of Tribal communities in shaping the work of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture (MIAC).

This fund provides critical resources to support in-person consultations between Tribal representatives and MIAC staff. These gatherings ensure Native voices lead decisions around collections care, repatriation, exhibition development, research and educational programming. Gifts to the fund cover travel and lodging, provide honoraria for Tribal leaders, and support the hospitality necessary for building trust and collaboration.

Each consultation is a powerful act of stewardship, community engagement, and healing—but they come at a real cost. A single Tribal community visit may result in more than $30,000 in direct expenses. Your charitable contribution will help to alleviate this financial burden, allowing MIAC to host as many visits as needed.

By supporting the Cultural Stewardship Fund, you help ensure MIAC continues to honor the traditions, voices, and values of the Native peoples whose histories and cultures are at the heart of the museum’s mission. Join us in fostering meaningful collaboration, cultural respect, and Indigenous leadership. Make your gift to the Cultural Stewardship Fund today.
