MIAC | July 2023
The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture will be opening Horizons: Weaving Between the Lines with Diné Textiles to the public on Sunday, July 16. I am so excited to see this exhibition come to fruition after witnessing the curatorial team pour so much intention and thoughtfulness into every detail over the last year. The textiles, many of which have never been displayed, will be enveloped in the scenes of Dinétah that have and will continue to define them. I know that the team has really honored the weavings selected and the museum they will be on display in. I am continuously grateful to the donors who helped to bring Horizons to the public. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the exhibition’s Lead Sponsors, France A. Córdova and Christian J. Foster. The exhibition team has been able to truly realize their vision thanks to the financial support provided by philanthropists like them. Exhibition donors and Circles members will be invited to preview the exhibit on Friday, July 14. Keep an eye on your inbox for details. MNMF Members at every other level will be invited to preview the exhibit on Saturday, July 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Ronald Chee will be performing live both nights, and refreshments inspired by the exhibition will be provided.
