Collectors' Sale Live Auction and Early-Access Shopping

We are sorting through some stunning donations and consignments for the Collectors’ Sale events taking place October 2022. A big thank you to the donors and collectors who have contributed! The event will kickoff with a live auction on Friday, October 20 featuring a curated selection of artwork including the Charlene Sanchez Reano necklace pictured above, Virgil Ortiz and Rainy Ortiz handbags, a sculpture donated by Upton Ethelbah Jr. and more. Tickets are $100, and include early-access shopping at the fixed-price sale on Saturday morning. The fixed price sale will take place form 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22. Admission is free. All proceeds benefit MIAC’s ongoing outreach programs and exhibition development.

MIAC has a new Deputy Director, Elisabeth Stone

Some exciting news to share this month – Elisabeth Stone will be starting at the new Deputy Director at MIAC on October 2. Elisabeth is an archaeologist and educator with experience in museum interpretation and historic preservation throughout New Mexico. She grew up in central New Mexico and received her PhD and MA in archaeology from UNM, where she had opportunities for archaeological research on museum collections in Spain, Hungary, France, and Peru. She's enthusiastic about community-led, local interpretations of history and welcomes ideas and collaborations from community members. Be sure to give Elisabeth a big welcome next time you stop by the museum!
