MNMF Shops Artist Spotlight: Peter Ray James

Peter Ray James (Navajo) is a creator of spiritual fabric art and a customer favorite at the Colleen Cloney Duncan Shop at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture. He graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts in 1984 and also attended the Parsons School of Design in New York City. Handmade and hand sewn, Peter’s soft sculptures are painted in various colors, featuring complex designs and natural feathers, making each piece one-of-a-kind. His work has been featured in various promotional materials and is collected by a handful of celebrities. Peter believes his destiny is to be a storyteller through artistic endeavors.
