Museum of Indian Arts and Culture | January 2026

As the new year begins, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture continues to build on the momentum of a successful winter season with impactful exhibitions, meaningful programming, and strong fundraising efforts. The Cultural Stewardship Fund remains a top priority, and trustees are also encouraged to support the museum's School Bus Fund and Exhibition Development Fund as we head into the final stretch of the fiscal year.

January highlights include:

  • A January 11 artist talk with Shayla Blatchford (Diné), whose photography and environmental justice work centers on uranium mining impacts on the Navajo Nation.
  • The launch of a new Museum book club, meeting every other first Sunday beginning in January.
  • Ongoing partnerships with the Santa Fe Indian School and Junior Achievement Job Shadow Program, connecting students with museum staff and curators.
  • Exhibition tours by educators and docents of Essential Elements, Makowa: The Worlds Above Us, and Here, Now and Always.
  • Behind-the-scenes collaborations advancing collections care.

The Museum’s education team continues to make a statewide impact, and philanthropic support helps ensure that programming remains accessible to communities across New Mexico. Donations to the Museum may also qualify for the new 2026 universal charitable deduction of up to $1,000 per individual or $2,000 per household.
