Route 66 Community Day at Museum Hill

Start with the Cars
The celebration begins with a Custom Car Show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring an exciting collection of cars and the creativity and craftsmanship behind them. Awards will be announced at 11:30 a.m., followed by the cars lining up for their cruise. At noon, the cars will leave for a cruise to Museum Hill, arriving between 12:30 and 1 p.m.
Celebrate on Museum Hill
Museum Hill opens to the public at 11 a.m., with ongoing programs, activities, and food vendors beginning throughout the site. Once the cars arrive, they will become part of the afternoon celebration.
At 1:30 p.m., the Main Stage program begins with a special blessing, followed by welcome remarks at 1:40 p.m. The afternoon continues with music and cultural performances:
- 2–2:30 p.m. — Dineh Tah Navajo Dance Group
Experience a lively traditional dance circle celebrating Indigenous culture and community. - 2:40–3:30 p.m. — Los Domingueros
Enjoy live music as the celebration continues. - 3:30–3:45 p.m. — Hakim Bellamy
Poet and emcee Hakim Bellamy will make a special appearance with MC announcements and a poet moment. - 4–5 p.m. — Jacob Shije Trio
The afternoon concludes with live music from the Jacob Shije Trio.
Explore the Museums
The celebration continues inside and around the museums on Museum Hill.
At the Museum of International Folk Art, families can enjoy Storytime with Marie Blessing from 11:15–11:45 a.m., along with hands-on education activities throughout the day.
At the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, Shawn Price performs from 1:15–2 p.m., followed by a Triumph Car Artist Panel from 3–4 p.m., offering a unique look at the intersection of automobiles and artistic expression.
Family Fun, Community & Food
There will be something happening throughout the day for visitors of all ages. Enjoy free face painting, hands-on art activities at the Museum of International Folk Art Outdoor Classroom and the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, and community and cultural organizations sharing their work around Museum Hill.
Car enthusiasts can meet car detailers and explore tables featuring organizations including the New Mexico History Museum, Museum of Art, Santa Fe Botanical Garden, Wheelwright Museum, and Nuevo Mexicano.
And, of course, no community celebration is complete without great food! Food trucks will be on hand throughout the event, offering fresh juices, burgers, paletas, shaved ice, tacos, and more from Freshies Juices, Laguna Burger, Over the Moon, Paleteria Oasis, Sno Cloud, and Taqueria Gracias Madre.
Come for the cars, stay for the music, explore the museums, and make a day of it on Museum Hill. Route 66 Community Day brings together the art, history, culture, creativity, and community spirit of the Mother Road for a free celebration that everyone can enjoy.
