Junya Kono is a prominent Japanese yokai artist and distinguished yokai researcher who uses a a variety of mediums such as photography, models and woodblock style paintings to showcase all different types of yokai from the benign to the destructive. Yokai is a term in Japanese folklore that refers to supernatural creatures, monsters, and spirits. These creatures have been a significant part of Japanese mythology for centuries and have inspired various forms of artistic expression, from traditional paintings and prints to contemporary art. Come and see our selection of his handmade ghost and demon masks, and his photographic mixed media prints.

Traditional Japanese umbrellas are called "wagasa" or "karakasa" depending on the design and material used. Wagasa typically refers to umbrellas made with washi (Japanese paper) and bamboo, while karakasa refers to oil-paper umbrellas. These umbrellas are distinct in design, with intricate patterns. We are honored to offer these beautifully handcrafted fans in our Shop.
