New Mexico Museum of Art | March 2026

Visit the New Mexico Museum of Art on Saturday, March 7 to see the opening of Roadside Attractions. Timed to the Route 66 Centennial, this exhibition invites visitors to reflect on movement, nostalgia and the ways photography preserves cultural memory.
Roadside is one of three upcoming exhibitions curated by Kate Ware, Curator Emerita of Photography at the New Mexico Museum of Art. More than individual exhibitions, this trilogy – Roadside Attractions, Legacies on the Land, and Eliot Porter Trees – represents a strategic investment in photography’s future at the Museum.

Marisa Sage Appointed Executive Director
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Marisa Sage as the museum’s next Executive Director, beginning March 28. Marisa brings more than 20 years of leadership experience directing museums, galleries and cultural foundations, with a nationally recognized record of curatorial excellence, strategic fundraising and community-centered museum practice. She most recently served as director and head curator of the University Art Museum at New Mexico State University (NMSU) in Las Cruces.
As Executive Director, Marisa will oversee the New Mexico Museum of Art and the Vladem Contemporary, guiding curatorial direction, strategic planning, fundraising, operations, collections stewardship and public engagement across both campuses.
