Shelby Jones sampling Terracon magnetite
Over the last month, Shelby A. Jones, PhD., the OAS’s new Laboratory Supervisor, Educator, and Volunteer Coordinator, has been hard at work bringing the laboratories into compliance through self-assessments and trainings. This hard work will continue to provide a safe working environment for staff and volunteers.
In other laboratory news, after ten years of work, the 12,000 lbs. of donated DeBois archaeomagnetic data is now 50% organized and digitized. These samples will provide important data that can help refine archaeomagnetic dating findings and practices, particularly in the southwest. This project will not only benefit the OAS, but the whole geomagnetic community. Wish the team luck as they continue to work on this massive project!
