Office of Archaeological Studies | January 2026
In December, OAS closed the year with impactful statewide outreach and preparation for the launch of Ice Age New Mexico, a major traveling education program designed to reach rural schools and libraries. OAS educators delivered hands-on archaeology programming to over 800 students this fall, and the lab team continued active research and field documentation across multiple projects.
Looking ahead to 2026, year-end giving remains critical to supporting OAS’s high-demand educational programs. With Ice Age New Mexico rolling out in the coming months and over 200 participants still on the waitlist for field training opportunities, philanthropic support will ensure that OAS can continue to inspire curiosity, preserve cultural heritage, and reach every corner of the state.
Excitingly, under the new 2026 U.S. tax laws, individuals can deduct up to $1,000 in charitable contributions—and households up to $2,000—without itemizing. Now is a perfect time to help ensure that OAS continues to spark curiosity, preserve cultural heritage, and reach every New Mexican with hands-on learning experiences. We hope you will consider making a charitable contribution to support OAS educational programming, and that you will advocate among your circles to increase philanthropic support.
