SITE Santa Fe 12th International Opening Weekend
Please join us for the celebration weekend of the 12th SITE Santa Fe’s International: Once Within a Time, Exhibition Opening, June 28-29, with two participating artists hosted in the Palace of the Governors.
For the 12th SITE SANTA FE International, artists Charisse Pearlina Weston (b. 1988, Houston, TX) and Daisy Quezada Ureña (b. 1990, Anaheim, CA) will activate two different galleries of the Palace of the Governors with newly commissioned sculptural, photographic, and installation work. Hosted in this National Historic Landmark, these two artists’ works are placed in dialogue with themes of migration, borders, and identity.
In a first, the 12th SITE SANTA FE International will extend its presentation beyond SITE SANTA FE to many locations across the city. The expansion into different sites will prompt visitors to further explore Santa Fe and engage with the uniqueness of the city. These partner venues comprise cultural institutions including the New Mexico History Museum including the Palace of the Governors, the Museum of International Folk Art, the New Mexico Military Museum, the Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe, the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian, and the St. Francis Auditorium at New Mexico Museum of Art, as well as spaces in a public park, a former foundry, an empty storefront, a local toy store, the lounge of a cannabis shop, and more. These locations offer spaces for artists to present site-specific installations (some of which are new commissions for the 12th International), and create dialogues between figures, artists, and places.
Free to visitors at all listed participating Museum locations June 28-29.
