Join Fort Selden Historic Site staff to see the sunrise over the historic ruins and the Robledo Mountains. The site will open at 6 a.m. for birding, photography, painting, wildlife viewing, and the cool, fresh morning air. Staff will provide a guided tour of the Fort Selden ruins at 9 a.m. and then at 11 a.m., come inside the Fort Selden Museum for a lecture on bats of the Chihuahuan Desert. For thousands of years, many people have considered bats to be mysterious creatures. There are many misconceptions about bats that contribute to the stories and fears that surround them. This lecture will discuss the importance of bats, the vital role they play in nature, and common species that can be spotted at and near Fort Selden.

All programming is included as part of general admission of $5/adult. Free for children 16 years and younger. Please call 575-526-8911 for more information.
