Nocona Burgess (Comanche) will moderate a panel of four beadwork artists who are from various tribes and at various stages in their careers. They will discuss their unique styles and tribal influences in their beading. We will ask them about what it takes to be a beader, where they draw their inspiration, and the time it takes to bead an art piece. They will tell us about where they are now and what is in the future for beadwork. We welcome Joseph Newman (Diné (Navajo) Hak’az Dine’é/ Inupiaq), Hollis Chitto (Choctaw/Isleta and Laguna Pueblos), Charlene Holy Bear (Standing Rock Lakota Sioux), and Dr. Deana Dudley Ward (Choctaw).
