Friends of Folk Art Present the 14th Annual Folk Art Flea

Mark your calendars! This year's Folk Art Flea returns on Saturday, June 7 at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds.  Admission is free and members of the Friends of Folk Art (FOFA) enjoy an hour of early-bird shopping from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Public admission is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sales from the Folk Art Flea support the Museum of International Folk Art's (MOIFA) excellent education programs and world-class exhibitions such as iNgqikithi yokuPhica / Weaving Meanings: Telephone Wire Art from South Africa, the first major exhibition of telephone wire art in any North American museum.

“The Folk Art Flea is a Santa Fe favorite; people come back year after year for a great selection of folk art at bargain prices,” says Marcia Lenihan, co-chair of the Flea. You’re sure to find a wonderful new addition to your collection, your wardrobe or your home.

Each year patrons, collectors and folk art lovers donate a broad selection of gently used textiles, ethnic clothing, ceramics, masks, wood carvings, paintings, sculpture, jewelry and more from around the world to be sold at the Folk Art Flea. Shoppers can take home their own folk art treasures and support MOIFA at the same time.

The Folk Art Flea is the largest fundraising event produced by volunteers with the Friends of Folk Art (FOFA), a membership group of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation. Over the past 13 years, the Flea has raised over $1,000,000 in support for the museum. “Shopping the Folk Art Flea is such a great way to support the Museum of International Folk Art,” noted Linda O’Leary, co-chair of the Flea.

The Flea is successful because of the amazing donations made by generous folk art fans from around Santa Fe. FOFA now accepts donated items for the Flea year-round; simply call 505-476-1201 to arrange a drop-off or pick-up. There are also three drive-through Flea donation days coming up: Saturdays April 5, April 26, and May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donation day drop offs are accepted in the rear parking lot of the Museum of International Folk Art, located at 706 Camino Lejo Santa Fe, NM 87505.
